At Kernel Creative Media, we’re constantly evolving our toolset in ways to better serve our clients. Our latest update is offering WordPress development utilizing both Genesis Framework and Pods Framework. Using Genesis and Pods allows us to offer more functionality with greater security and ease of use for our WordPress clients.
In a previous installment, we outlined our browser support for websites we design and develop at Kernel Creative Media. As that was almost two years ago, the browser landscape has changed and we figured it was time to update you on our practices. Statistics from November 2012 show that Internet Explorer 7 usage has dropped to extremely low limits, so we’ve dropped support for IE7. Firefox has also moved to a more proactive, ambitious upgrade cycle, so we’re restricting our support to the most current version.
After much deliberation and delay, we’ve finally launched version 2.0 of our business website! Kernel Creative Media has grown quite a bit since we launched the initial website version back in February 2010. With new web technologies growing rapidly, it was time to update our code to push the web forward. Plenty of new features, both front-end and back-end are here, so let’s just dive right on in and see what new toys we developed.
There has been a lot of talk over the past year about Internet Explorer 6 and its continued usage in the web browser market. Being that Microsoft stopped official support for the browser in mid 2010 and usage has dwindled to under 4% of browser market share as of January 2011, Kernel Creative Media has stopped supporting Internet Explorer 6. So what does this mean for you?
Essentially, we are no longer optimizing websites for Internet Explorer 6. We aren’t going to allow your site to be broken in the browser, but if a small portion of the site looks slightly different, the impact will be negligible. With IE6 usage dropping every month and most users moving to more modern browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, our goal is to push the web forward with new technologies and coding standards to bring more interaction, accessibility and flair to your website.
All sites we develop are tested on Internet Explorer 7 & 8, Safari 5+, Chrome (current), Opera (current), and Firefox 4+. Future versions of browsers will be tested as they are released and older browsers and versions may stop being tested. Will will notify you of any changes in the News section of our website.
We look forward to using the latest in HTML5/CSS3 technologies with jQuery with your website to bring more traffic and user interaction! Contact us today for a quote!
